Design of Reinforced Masonry Structures |
|
|
| $10.00 |
| The
book is co-authored
by Gregg E. Brandow,
Chukwuma Ekwueme, and
Gary C. Hart, and continues
to be an extremely useful
text for use in a formal
classroom setting, or
as a reference for practicing
engineers. This new
edition is based on
the 2013 edition of
the "Building Code Requirements
for Masonry Structures"
(TMS 402/602-13) as
developed by the Masonry
Standards Joint Committee
(MSJC) and the 2015
International Building
Code. Calculations for
design loads are referenced
to ASCE 7-10. In addition
to several practical
design examples and
aids, the new edition
also includes the complete
design of the major
concrete masonry elements
of three typical masonry
buildings - a one-story
warehouse, a six-story
hotel/apartment building
and a three story office/laboratory
building. All examples
are solved using both
strength design and
allowable stress design
procedures.

Concrete
Masonry
Design
Computer Aided Design
of
Reinforced Concrete
and Clay Masonry Elements
in Accordance with
the
2013 Building Code
Requirements for Masonry
Structures
(and other current
building codes)
|
| CMD15
is the seventh generation
of the CMD series of
programs for the structural
design of reinforced
concrete and clay masonry
elements. CMD15 is a
32 bit Windows (Win32)
based series of modules
which run under the
Windows Vista, Windows
7, Windows 10 or equivalent
operating systems. The
strength and working
stress design modules
have provisions for
nine design codes, the
2010, 2013 and 2016
California Building
Code, the 2008, 2011
and 2013 TMS 402/ACI
530/ASCE 5 Building
Code Requirements for
Masonry Structures
and the 2009, 2012 and
2015 International Building
Code.
CMD15 is divided
into nine program
modules:
| There
are five programs
for strength design |
| |
|
|
Strength
Design of Walls
for Out-of-Plane
Loads (SDOOPL):
|
| |
Strength design
of masonry walls
subjected to axial
compression and
out-of-plane loadings,
including out-of-plane
flexure and shear.
|
| |
|
| Strength
Design of Walls
for In-Plane Loads
(SDIPL): |
| |
Strength design
of masonry walls
subjected to axial
compression and
in-plane loadings,
including in-plane
flexure and shear.
|
| |
|
| Strength
Design of Beams
(SDBEAM): |
| |
Strength design
of masonry flexural
elements subjected
to single axis
bending and shear
loadings. The
program also includes
the procedures
of 1997 UBC/2001
CBC Section 2108.2.6
for the design
of beams which
are part of a
moment resisting
wall frame. |
| |
|
| Strength
Design of Piers
(SDPIER): |
| |
Strength design
of masonry beam-column
elements subjected
to axial compression
and in-plane loadings,
including in-plane
flexure and shear.
The program also
includes the procedures
of 1997 UBC/2001
CBC Section 2108.2.6
for the design
of piers which
are part of a
moment resisting
wall frame. |
| |
|
| Strength
Design of Columns
(SDCOL): |
| |
Strength design
of masonry beam-column
elements subjected
to axial compression,
biaxial bending,
and shear. |
| |
|
| There
are four programs
for working stress
design based on
the allowable
stresses in masonry.
|
| |
|
| Working
Stress Design
of Walls for Out-of-Plane
Loads (WSDOOPL):
|
| |
Working stress
design of masonry
walls subjected
to axial compression
and out-of-plane
loadings, including
out-of-plane flexure
and shear. |
| |
|
| Working
Stress Design
of Walls for In-Plane
Loads (WSDIPL): |
| |
Working stress
design of masonry
walls subjected
to axial compression
and in-plane loadings,
including in-plane
flexure and shear.
|
| |
|
| Working
Stress Design
of Beams (WSDBEAM):
|
| |
Working stress
design of masonry
flexural elements
subjected to single
axis bending and
shear loadings.
Axial loads are
not considered.
|
| |
|
| Working
Stress Design
of Columns (WSDCOL):
|
| |
Working stress
design of masonry
beam-column elements
subjected to axial
compression, biaxial
bending, and shear.
An axial load
versus moment
capacity diagram
is generated.

The programs operate
using a simple menu
structure which allows
for the ease of entering
data and reviewing
and printing the output.
The programs also
contain various 'flags'
which warn the user
when certain code
provisions are not
being satisfied. The
output contains data
required to substantiate
the design of a reinforced
concrete or clay masonry
element in a format
that is suitable for
submittal to a building
department or other
authority.
When the user is interested
in designing an element
in accordance with
strength design procedures,
the user must always
input an amount of
reinforcement, the
size of the masonry
element and the loading
condition.
When the user is interested
in designing an element
in accordance with
working stress procedures,
two options are available.
For both options,
the user must input
the size of the masonry
element, the loading
condition and whether
special inspection
is required. For the
first option, if the
user does not input
any reinforcement,
the program calculates
the required reinforcement
if a solution exists.
For the second option,
the user inputs an
amount of reinforcement
and the program calculates
the corresponding
stress ratio.
Funding for the development
and verification of
CMD15 was provided
by the Concrete Masonry
Association of California
and Nevada (CMACN).
The CMD15 software
package requires a
personal computer
(PC) with a minimum
800 MHz processor
with Windows Vista/Windows
7/Windows 10 or compatible
operating system.
The programs are available
from CMACN for a nominal
fee. |
